I went to my old school today, because I didn’t want to spend over £450 on Sibelius. The music teachers were kind enough to let me use the computers there for an afternoon to arrange some music for the carol service at church on 18th December. That’s why there’s a “Music” page now, so that the singers can see and hear what we’re going to be performing.
Sandbox
I wanted somewhere that I could mess around with more drastic features, without affecting the-point.org, so I installed WordPress in a separate directory, and now I can use it almost like a separate website.
I’m currently using it to explore features for Karen’s site. It’s probably overkill, but I thought it might be cool to offer her a feature that lets her students’ parents have restricted access to updates on how their son/daughter is getting on. Even if Karen doesn’t want it, it’s good to know how to do.
I invented two students; Phoebe and Jim, and made users for their parents to experiment with this, and I think it works pretty well.
Header
Mainly, I just needed a post so that I could play with settings and widgets.
The header image is a quick grab of a load of images from my hard-drive. Included are graduation, wedding, Piazza San Marco in Venice, Pisa, the Wailing Wall, Qumran, Trafalgar Square from the National Gallery, Rochester Cathedral, Lee Abbey in Devon, me on the radio, and some graffiti from the Old City in Jerusalem that says “We Need Peace”.
